In an attempt to be a better blogger, I'm copying my fellow blogger and real-life friend Lani over at Squamish Baby by participating in Project 52. Just in case you've never heard of it - and I hadn't until I started following Lani's blog - it's an online project to take one photo per week to document our lives.
2012 was an amazing year. We welcomed our first child and became a family of three. It was a year of amazing personal growth for me as I fell in love with my daughter, came to terms with my own family dynamics, and my hubby and I had to relearn our relationship as parents rather than just "two crazy kids in love".

I managed to finish a cocktail dress for NYE 2012. This dress was several years in the making. I started making it in early 2011 to wear to a friends' wedding in Salmon Arm. I ran out of time, and then learned I was pregnant with the Little Miss so I never bothered to finish it.
I stumbled upon it while tidying up my sewing room the other week and realized it would make the perfect holiday dress to bring to Saskatoon. It's not my best work - the neckline is wonky and the invisible zipper is not lined up 100%, but it's wearable. The busy print helps hide the oopsies too!
The pattern is Simplicity 3835 - Built By Wendy. I've made this pattern several times, and I still love it. I ended up adding 2" length to the sleeves so the ties weren't at such an awkward spot on the elbow. I think the dress is a bit too short... I love mini-dresses but feel self-conscious now that I'm a bit older... I turn 30 in the spring, holy smokes! I must not look it though since I still get ID'd at the liquor store and then the employees look absolutely shocked when they realize how long I've been legal for, ha!
So far 2013 has been quite busy, and I'm heading back to work next week! It will be an interesting transition from stay-at-home-mom to working-mom... I'm not one for making New Year's Resolutions, but I decided that I will try to spend more time doing outdoorsy things in 2013. We are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place and I really need to take advantage of that. Added bonus: I can take more photos for Project 52 - weeeeee!
Happy Monday everyone

So cool! You have a beautiful family. I'm also doing a photography project, but it's the 365 challenge. One photo a day. I've chosen my two kids as the subject. Let me just say, they were not kidding when they decided to call it 365 "challenge".
ReplyDeleteHave a good one!
Phew! That sounds intense - good luck! ;) I was thinking one a week was hard... But it will be nice to have a week-by-week (or 365) journal to look back on!
DeleteTake care!
